NAVRATHRI GOLU

Our school celebrates Navrathri for the past 8 decades. To enrich children the tradition of  our country, we have Rama avadhar, Krishna avadhar, Ashta lakshmi, Karthigai pengal, Dasa avadharam, Vinayagar, Radha Krishna, Hanumar, Arthanadeeswarar, goddess in various forms. The children  witness the golu and learn a lot about our great epics and puranas.

Ours  is a secular golu. We have Jesus, Buddha, Jain temple, Mosque, Meera bai in our collection. Children arrange park to show the functioning of schools. In the  arrangement of village various agricultural activities in the fields like sowing seeds, grinding, harvesting, winnowing are showcased.

The  temple  sequence is arranged where people gather together and offer God and goddess with rice, vegetables, fruits, sugar pongal and vadai etc.,  and eat together to show  their integration.

We have cricket set, chettiyar bommai, marapachi and old traditional games like snake and ladder, pallankuzhi. It brings glimpses of our culture and tradition before the students. Everyday sundal were distributed. Children in colour dress worshipped, sang songs and came to know  about our rich culture.
